Lake Monticello

Welcome to Lake Monticello

Lake Monticello is a private community on the hillside of Central Virginia, not far from Charlottesville. This community sits on a gorgeous 350-acre lake formed by a dam on the Rivanna River. It wasn’t until 1965, when Hurricane Camille swept through the area, that the lake was filled. Today it’s the perfect spot for boating, fishing, water skiing, and swimming, with several beaches, picnic areas, boat docks, and a marina. There’s a separate pond in the community, Tufton Lake, specifically for fishing. Its proximity to Charlottesville and Richmond makes it perfect for commuters.

This gated community has more than 4,200 homes, all custom-built. Lot sizes range from a quarter-acre to one acre and offer custom landscaping options. Those interested in purchasing a home and joining this exclusive community will contribute to the Lake Monticello Owner’s Association dues. These dues help provide maintenance to the community. Between the stunning beauty of the area and the luxury amenities and homes found here, it’s easy to see why residents love living in Lake Monticello.
